Sam Fender has given the entirety of his £25k honor winnings to the trust for venues, which functions to preserve the United Kingdom's small live music spots.

He was given the cheque on mid-October as his third album his work was named the outstanding release of the past year.

Fender has decided to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the essential function grassroots venues fulfilled in his beginning days.

"As an artist would not have achieved what I am doing today if it weren't for all the shows I played around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Sam Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, top acts including the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports local stages.

Fender also participated, raising more than £100,000 on his recent tour to support numerous local spots across the UK.

The money assisted venues that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues caused by floods, fires and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Additional spaces were granted financial assistance in upgrading amenities and technical equipment that positively impacted performers and audiences.

"The concept that funds from shows in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just logical," the star has said.

He is far from the only musician to donate his award funds to good deeds.

When they received the prize in 1996 for their album their work, frontman Cocker announced that the act would contribute their prize money to the organization War Child.

During 2002, artist she split her bounty between multiple charities, including the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite shared with a publication.

Previously, the band gave their prize money to the youth organization that nurtured their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Also winners that year the group gave their prize to a MS organization after a friend was identified with the illness.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," said singer the singer. "The cash was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the cake. So our success affected another person's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had saved two local spots in that region, by bringing them into community ownership.

The first in the city and the other in the city were acquired under the public acquisition program, which is backed by Arts Council England and supporters who purchase "stakes" in the venues.
