Large-scale Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while local people in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in providing defensive weapons and applying sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen missiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, according to city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city experienced significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor died and three other people were wounded.

The assaults come after evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

He said technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
