Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.

Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
